There's currently a bug with attaching files/images to the forum in IE - your attachment will appear on the very top of the page (above and outside the editor). If you wish you can quote the URL created in your message, or use an alternate browser.
But note that if you're certain HSQLDB is updated instead of MySQL, I would guess there's a problem with your Configuration.xml file, so I suggest you attach it (or copy&paste its contents) to a reply.
