Tersus: Older Version (2.2.x or earlier on eclipse 3.x)

Older Version (2.2.x or earlier on eclipse 3.x)Date: Aug 23, 2021Tags:Linux,MacThe cross platform installation method adds the Tersus Studio components to a working Eclipse 3.6 installation.Installing EclipseBefore installing the Tersus Studio components you should make sure you have the following components installed:

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6
To install do the following:
Go to the Java SE Downloads page.
Scroll down to the Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) section.
Click the Download button to select the appropriate version for your platform.
Install the JRE as per the Installation Instructions. We shall refer to the JRE installation directory, as [JRE root].

Eclipse Platform Runtime Binary 3.x
To install do the following:
Go to the eclipse project downloads page.
Click on the latest 3.x link to switch to the version specific download page.
Click on the Platform Runtime Binary tab on the left side of the screen to scroll to the Platform Runtime Binary section.
Click the http link to download the appropriate archive file for you platform.
The archive contains an eclipse sub directory. Extract this directory to a location of your choice. We shall reference this location as [Tersus Studio root].

Eclipse GEF Runtime 3.6.x
To install do the following:
Go to the gef project downloads page.
Scroll down the Latest Releases, and click the 3.6.x link to expand it.
Click the Runtime link in the GEF + Draw2D section, to download the zip archive file found there (same file for all platforms, e.g. GEF-runtime-3.6.2.zip).
The archive contains an eclipse sub directory. Extract ("merge") it into [Tersus Studio root].

Verify that Eclipse is installed correctly, as follows:
Go to the command prompt.
Switch to the [Tersus Studio root] directory.
Run the eclipse executable (./eclipse in Linux, eclipse.exe in Windows).

Updating the JRE and Eclipse configurationsInstall JavaMailVersions tested: 1.6

Go to the JavaMail API page

Click the Download JavaMail Release link

Click the javax.mail.jar link to download the jar file

Copy javax.mail.jar to [JRE root]/lib/ext.

Install Java Advanced Imaging (JAI) APIVersions tested: 1.1.2_01

Go to the Java Media APIs page

Click on the Java Advanced Imaging link

Click on the Java Advanced Imaging API 1.1.2_01 link

Locate the CLASSPATH Install matching your platform (for Mac OSX, use the the Linux version), and click the download link next to it

Accept the license agreement

Press the Download button

Execute or extract the download and copy the contents of the lib/ subdirectory (JARs and DLLs/SOs) to [JRE root]/lib/ext.

Changing Eclipse configuration settings

Add the following line to the end of the file [Tersus Studio root]/configuration/config.ini using a text editor:
osgi.parentClassloader = ext

Start Eclipse.

Select Window -> Preferences... to open the Preferences dialog.

In the General -> Workspace category, clear the Build automatically check box, and check the Refresh Automatically check box.

In the Install/Update -> Automatic Updates category, check the Automatically find new updates and notify me check box.

Click the Preferences dialog OK button to save your changes.

Installing Tersus Studio in EclipseOnline Installation Procedure

Start Eclipse.

Select Help -> Install New Software... to open the Install dialog.

In the Available Software (first) step of the wizard, click the Add ... button, enter the stable update site url, http://updates.tersus.com/2.2/stable as the Location:, and click OK.
Note: If you wish to install the latest version, enter http://updates.tersus.com/2.2/latest instead.

Eclipse will now contact the update site on our server and should then display an expandable tree with a Tersus item as root. Check the check box next to it.

Click the Next > button to start the download and installation procedure.

When the Install Details step of the wizard appears (which may take some time depending on your eclipse configuration, and network connection), click Next >.

In the Review Licenses step, click the I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Finish.

When a Security Warning appears, referencing the various tersus components, allow the installation to continue, by clicking OK.

When the installation is complete, restart the workbench (Eclipse) as prompted.

When restart is complete, switch to the Tersus Modeling perspective (through Window -> Open Perspective -> Other ...) to verify that the installation has been successful.

Offline Installation ProcedureThe procedure is similar to the online procedure, except that you should download the update site as an archive (the Tersus Studio - Cross Platform download link in the Downloads page), and in step 3 above, instead of entering the Location, click the Archive... button and point to the downloaded file.Installing Tersus Tutorial Sample ApplicationsThe Tersus Studio includes an online step-by-step tutorial.
