The browser restart caused authenticated sessions to be dropped (see http://www.tersus.com/#Id=2413).
But actually, you did help us discover an issue with this application's Authorization model and data (User-Role-Permissions). In tomcat 6 all users must be assigned the role 'User', and applications making use of the most up-to-date Authorization module have this enforced, but this specific application has an older version of the module, which is missing this role enforcement.
