Tersus can be used to develop "regular" desktop web applications as well as iPhone and iPod Touch applications.
It should be noted that this is not an "either or" decision. You can also develop "mixed" web applications that can be used from both desktops and mobile devices.
A typical case (as in the Shopping List demo) is a system that has management screens operated by users working in the office on their desktop machines, while other users are using the system from their iPhones.
