It's possible that the problem has to do with package names, since these are used as file names (package in repository = .trp file in filesystem), and certain filesystems (or configurations of those) may mot support certain characters as illegal for file names. Another possibility is that while the filesystems (of both studio and deployment) do support these characters, trnasfering the project from one location to the other, may have caused special chacters in filenames to be encoded differently. (See also feature #293).
Note that this issue should not prevent you from using any characters you wish (with the exception of the forward slash) in model names, you just have to make sure package names do not contain them.
Note that certain templates such as Display/View, automatically create a package with the same name, but these can be subsequently renamed independently from one another, so you could leave the view model name with the special character, and rename the package to one without. Just remember that when renaming any model in a package of the same name, you need to uncheck the checkbox that automatically renames the package as well.

David
