Tersus Studio – Cross Platform with SubclipseDate: Oct 18, 2007The cross platform installation method adds the Tersus Studio components to a working Eclipse v3.2.x installation.Installing EclipseIf you don't have Eclipse 3.2.x already installed, you should do so first:

Download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) v1.4.1 or later (6 is recommended), as follows:
Go to the Java SE Downloads page.
Scroll down to the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6ux section.
Click the Download button to select the appropriate version for your platform.
Install the JRE as per the Installation Instructions. We shall refer to the JRE installation directory, as [JRE root].

Download and install Eclipse 3.2.x Platform Runtime Binary, as follows:
Go to the eclipse project downloads page.
Click on the 3.2.x link next to Latest Release to switch to the Maintenance Build: 3.2.x page.
Scroll down to the Platform Runtime Binary section.
Download the appropriate archive file for you platform (e.g. eclipse-platform-3.2.2-win32.zip for Windows).
The archive contains an eclipse sub directory. Extract this directory to a location of your choice. We shall reference this location as [Tersus Studio root].

Download and install Eclipse GEF Runtime 3.2.x, as follows:
Go to the gef project downloads page.
Click on the 3.2.x link next to Latest Release to switch to the Maintenance Build: 3.2.x page.
Scroll down to the Runtime section.
Download the zip archive file found there (same file for all platforms, e.g. GEF-runtime-3.2.2.zip).
The archive contains an eclipse sub directory. Extract ("merge") it into [Tersus Studio root].

Verify that Eclipse is installed correctly, as follows:
Go to the command prompt.
Switch to the [Tersus Studio root] directory.
Run the eclipse executable (./eclipse in Linux, eclipse.exe in Windows).

Updating the JRE and Eclipse configurations Installing SMTP Mail Support

Download and install JavaBeans Activation Framework (JAF) 1.1, as follows:
Go to the download page.
Scroll down, click the Download button, and follow the instructions to accept the license and download the archive.
Once downloaded, extract the archive and copy jaf-1.1/activation.jar to [JRE root]/lib/ext.

Download and install JavaMail API 1.4, as follows:
Go to the download page.
Scroll down, click the Download button, and follow the instructions to accept the license and download the archive.
Once downloaded, extract the archive and copy javamail-1.4/mail.jar to [JRE root]/lib/ext.

Add the following line to the file [Tersus Studio root]/configuration/config.ini using a text editor:
osgi.parentClassloader = ext (leave eof=eof as the last line).

Installing Subclipse - A Subversion Eclipse Plugin

Online Installation Procedure

Start Eclipse.
Select Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install ... to open Install/Update wizard.
In the Feature Updates step, select the Search for new features to install option and click Next >.
In the Updates sites to visit step, click the New Remote Site... button, enter http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.2.x as the new update site's Name and URL, and click OK.
Mark the check-box(es) next to the site(s) you have just added and click Finish to search the update site.
In the Search Results step, expand the http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.2.x branch, check the Subclipse branch (leave the Mylar Integration branch unchecked), and click Finish.
Follow the instructions given to you in order to download and install the updates. Note that while installing, one or more Feature Verification warnings will be displayed, in response to which, you may safely click the Install button.
When the installation is complete, restart the workbench (Eclipse) as prompted.

Offline Installation Procedure

The procedure is similar to the online procedure, except that you should download the update site as an archive from http://subclipse.tigris.org/ (through the Zipped downloads link), and in step 4, add a New Archived Site ... pointing to the downloaded file.

Changing Eclipse configuration settings

Start Eclipse.

Select Window -> Preferences... to open the Preferences dialog.

In the General -> Workspace category, check the Refresh Automatically check box.

In the Install/Update category, check the Automatically select mirrors check box, and the compatible radio button in the Valid updates group.

In the Install/Update -> Automatic Updates category, check the Automatically find new updates and notify me check box.

Click the Preferences dialog OK button to save your changes.

Installing Tersus Studio in EclipseOnline Installation Procedure

Start Eclipse.

Select Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install ... to open Install/Update wizard.

In the Feature Updates step, select the Search for new features to install option and click Next >.

In the Updates sites to visit step, click the New Remote Site... button, enter http://updates.tersus.com/1.x as the new update site's Name and URL, and click OK.

Mark the check-box(es) next to the site(s) you have just added and click Finish to search the update site.

In the Search Results step, check the http://updates.tersus.com/1.x branch, and click Finish.

Follow the instructions given to you in order to download and install the updates. Note that while installing, one or more Feature Verification warnings will be displayed, in response to which, you may safely click the Install button.

When the installation is complete, restart the workbench (Eclipse) as prompted.

When restart is complete, switch to the Tersus Modeling perspective (through Window -> Open Perspective -> Other ...) to verify that the installation has been successful.
