Re: Sun Java JRE used now out of date and considered insecure - Update?Date: Aug 16, 2010I gather that you installed using the Windows installation kit, which includes a dedicated JRE (installed in the studio's jre subfolder).This installation method ensures that, the studio will be able to run immediately, without having to ask the user to install a JRE separately.It is not however a requirement, and the studio will work just as well if the dedicated JRE is removed, as long as another standalone, up-to-date, Sun JRE is available on your system.To run the studio using a standalone JRE do the following:

Make sure the standalone JRE is installed correctly

If the studio is running close it

Move/rename the studio's jre subfolder (e.g. jre.bak)

Start the studio, to make sure it loads successfully, the close it

Compare the contents of the lib/ext folder in jre.bak to the same folder in your standalone JRE installation, and copy the missing files from jre.bak.

Remove jre.bak.
