The default timeout for a service (server) call is 600 seconds (10 minutes).
This can be overridden for the project as a whole by setting the request_timeout parameter (in Configuration.xml or tomcat context file).
You can also override the project default in a specific service by setting its serviceTimeout property (add it if missing) - see in http://www.tersus.com/#Id=981.
In both case the value should be specified in seconds.
To catch the timeout error (or any other server side exception), add an error (red) exit to your service, and create your own flow for handling it. If and when an exception occur, the service will exit from the error exit rather than displaying the raw error to the user.
