iPhone Style with Zebra.tersus implements the above suggestion.
The 'Init List' process alternately adds to List Item either the style class "odd" or the style class "even".
Note that to be able to use 'Add Style Class' for List Item, List Item must include the <Style Class> element. Once <Style Class> exists, it overrides the value of the html.styleClass property, so we have to explicitly set <Style Class> to "ui-btn-inner ter-list-item" (and then add "odd" or "even").
Further note that this project implements an inner scroll in the page's content (leaving the header with no scroll). This is implemented by: [1] Setting the html.scroll property of the page to "false"; [2] Enclosing the List element in a Scroll Pane element; [3] Setting the html.wrapperTags property of Scroll Pane to "div"; and [4] Setting the html.wrapperStyleClassesproperty of Scroll Pane to "ter-max-height".
