The Authorization module (from the palette) is not well suited for mobile applications, and if you're planning a native mobile application, installed on the device, it is not suited at all, because it is based on Tomcat's basic authentication, which assumes a network connection and specific server access.
The Authorization application template (from File>New...>Tersus Project) does not rely on Tomcat's basic authentication, and can more readily be tweaked to mobile scenarios, but I agree it is not trivial (though I would say the security can never, and should not, be trivial).
I'm not sure you will be able to develop a simpler login mechanism, without compromising security, so I suggest you do spend some time figuring out the basic parts of the Authorization application template, by tracing parts of the application, the most important being user login (when the user presses the button after entering credentials), automatic, cookies-based login (after a browser refresh), and logout (when the user clicks the logout link).
We understand that it would be useful to have a mobile version of the Authorization application template (maybe one with both a Mobile and Desktop version), but have been thusfar unable to create one, but out overall, commercial priorities have thus far prevented us from spending the time required for this. Perhaps this will change in the near future.

David
