OK, had some struggling with configuring everything, but eventually what worked for me, following David's advice, was adding the following line to the Terusus.ini file (in the Tersus installation folder):
-Djava.library.path=C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB Runtime\v90\runtime\win64;.
