Try setting MySQL's wait_timeout to the maximum value allowed. See https://askubuntu.com/questions/892858/how-do-i-set-wait-timeout-to-unlimited-in-mysql & https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/server-system-variables.html#sysvar_wait_timeout
I think upgaring the jdbc driver (Connector/J) is also worth a try.
