Tersus 2.1.31.4 has been announced stable. This version includes a minor fix to an issue introduced in a previous version (as described in the change log) and replaces the version 2.1.31.3 as the official stable version.

The Stable update site (http://updates.tersus.com/stable) has also been updated.
Existing studio installations should be updated through eclipse's automatic update mechanism (if configured to do so), or can be updated manually, as explained in the Getting Updates page.
Note, that if you are currently running the previous stable version (2.1.8.2) and have not since updated to one of the interim versions, automatic update might not occur, in which case we recommend that you follow the manual update procedure mentioned above.

This version includes numerous bug fixes and features, which were introduced following our previous stable version release (2.1.8.2) and are listed in the Change Log for each interim version.

The main focus of this version in respect to the previous stable version 2.1.8.2 (and the reason for the long time span between these two stable versions), is the introduction of a new set of display widgets, unifying mobile and desktop UI.

Additional key features of the new UI include:

Each display model represents a single HTML tag.
In previous implementations a single model could map to several tags (e.g. Table).
All UI functionality is explicitly modeled.
In previous implementations certain UI behaviors where only implied by the model (e.g. Navigation Bar)
LESS (a CSS pre-processor) is used to define stylesheets.

The new UI implementation is a work in progress towards a future stable version in which the new UI will become the default. It is currently accessible via an additional project template, called New Mobile Application. The legacy UIs are still accessible via their respective project templates (see File > New > New Tersus Project).

Tersus PHP Proxy announcement

After many questions about PHP server for Tersus, I decided to do something about it. This is not realy PHP Tersus server, but PHP Proxy between your Tersus Server (or Tersus Studio) and clients
accessing your application. Proxy is handling (Logout) and caching all HTTP GET requests for your server, and some POST requests (only Timestamp right now).

Of course, my server will stay offline, so you can't realy test last application, it is only proving caching is working by the proxy. Additionally, applications hosted by Tersus (applications.tersus.com) are exceptions here, since you can't link applications to foreign servers, only to yours.

How you can add your application to the proxy? By using uri parameters:

http://flash.g0dsoft.com/<your_application>?email1=<your_email1>&email2=<your_email2>&host=<host_name_or_ip>&port=<port_number>

[email1, email2, ...] = list of your emails. I suggest to use at least two emails, just in case.

[host] = your host name or ip address (optional parameter). If you don't provide host parameter, you ip address will be resolved (reverse dns). Therefore, you must use internet browser from your hosting machine. I suggest to use dyndns or no-ip for your host name if your ip address is not static (usually at the home network).

[port] = port number (optional parameter). Not needed if port number is 80 (default). It is your task to setup firewall, do port forwarding, etc. (out of scope here).

If your uri parameters are correct and proxy is able to connect back to your server, you should receive following content by the email (email1 will be used for registration process):

Subject: http://flash.g0dsoft.com/<your_application>?<your_parameters>
Content: http://flash.g0dsoft.com/<your_application>?code=<random_string_64_characters_long>

Click on the link sent to you (don't forget, you must do that on your hosting machine) and you should see "welcoming" message:

Created.

Congratulations, now you can test your application by opening http://flash.g0dsoft.com/<your_application> in your browser.

Please be patient while content is loaded, it will take some time to cache your application.

How can I modify my application, or clear cache?

http://flash.g0dsoft.com/<your_application>?email=<one_of_your_emails>&host=<host_name_or_ip>&port=<port_number>&cache=<clear|remove>&app=<new_application>

[email] = one of your previously registered emails. This is where you will receive your code.

[host] = your new host name or ip address (optional). Same functionality like in registration process.

[port] = your new port number (optional). Same functionality like in registration process.

[cache] = standalone (all other parameters ignored) command used to clear or remove cache (optional). You can use clear command (lowercase) to clear your cache if you do minor changes on your application, like new logo or similar. Remove command (lowercase) will remove your cache and application too!!! Therefore, remove command is used to remove your application from proxy once it is registered!!!

[app] = new application (optional). You can (and you should) use this parameter after major application change (new version) to link <your_application> to new application version. In other words, your application proxy name will stay, but proxy will connect now to your new (separate) application hosted on your server (valid only for new sessions). Therefore, you should keep
your old application running till all sessions are closed.

This service will stay free as long my PHP hosting is free. If you have other PHP hosting servers to suggest, I'll consider it since my hosting is causing some "troubles" to the proxy (application need some on-fly modifications in order to work properly).

There are some bugs existing (registration and modification process, and proxy itself perhaps), so don't hesitate to report bugs or ask questions.

New Feature: Context-sensitive help

Starting with version 1.3.17, pressing the [F1] key in the model editor (or selecting Help in the context menu), opens context-sensitive help for the selected element's template.
The documentation from our site is displayed if your computer is online, otherwise the built-in help (also accessible via Help -> Help Contents) is used.

Note that currently some of the templates are undocumented or partially documented. We are working on bridging this gap.

Tersus 1.3.6 announced stable

Tersus 1.3.6 has been announced stable, and a new Windows installation kit has been created (Ubuntu installation to follow). See the download page for more details.

The automatic update site (http://updates.tersus.com/1.x) has also been updated. If your studio is configured for automatic updates, you will be notified of this update.

If you are running a previous 1.3.x version, you will be able to upgrade.

If you are running version 1.2.15 or earlier, you will not be able to upgrade through eclipse's update mechanism. If you attempt to use the update mechanism, you will be notified that a new version of eclipse (3.4.x) is required. Instead you will have to perform either one of the following procedures:

Fresh install (recommended)
Download the installation kit appropriate for you platform, and perform a fresh install of the studio into a new directory. Once installed you can open your existing workspace, through File -> Switch Workspace -> Other ...
Upgrade install
Alternately, you will need to manually upgrade your existing installation from eclipse 3.3 to 3.4. See the Getting Updates page for more details.

Note that once an existing workspace has been opened using Tersus 1.3.x/eclipse 3.4.x, it cannot be opened using a previous version (since the workspace metadata is upgraded - the applications/projects are not changed, so they can be imported back into a previous version). It is therefore highly recommended that you backup your workspaces before performing an upgrade.

Our Mac users should note that this version (1.3.6) cannot be installed, since it requires JRE 6. We have removed this requirement starting with version 1.3.7, which has been released and available for download as a "latest" version.

Tersus 1.3.0 / Eclipse 3.4.1

We have released version 1.3.0 today (as a non-stable version) .

This version requires Eclipse 3.4.1 , so "regular" updates will not work on it .

We hope we'll soon be able to post instructions for upgrading Tersus from Eclipse 3.3 to Eclipse 3.4.1 . If anybody is in a hurry to try the new version, the cross platform installation method can serve as a basis (substituting Eclipse 3.4.1 for Eclipse 3.3.x and using http://updates.tersus.com/latest as the update site).

Rendezvous - Coordinating Meetings over The Web

There is a new Tersus web application available online - Rendezvous.

With Rendezvous you can coordinate meetings with several other people without downloading any software.

You simply specify a list of participants and one or more possible times (and places), and these are sent by email invitation to each participant.

Each invitation mail contains a link that the participant can click to "vote" for a preferred selection of time and place.

Google Chrome

I've downloaded and tested Google's new browser Chrome and it's realy fast, according some of my tests even a little bit faster as Firefox3.0.

Some problems I found:

html-fields are not always displayed on the correct place (most times below the rest of the page content)
browse-button is displayed a little bit to high
