Tersus Studio – Cross Platform Installation InstructionDate: Aug 23, 2021The cross platform installation method adds the Tersus Studio components to a working Eclipse 4.3 installation.Installing Eclipse 4.3.x (codename Kepler)Before installing the Tersus Studio components you should make sure you have the following components installed:Install Eclipse Platform Runtime Binary 4.3.x

Go to the eclipse project archived downloads page.

Click on the latest 4.3.x link to switch to page for the specific version (note that while newer 4.x versions are available they have not been tested yet)

Click on the Platform Runtime Binary tab on the left side of the screen to scroll to the Platform Runtime Binary section.

Click the http link to download the appropriate archive file for you platform.

The archive contains an eclipse subfolder. Extract the contents of this subfolder to an empty location of your choice. We shall reference this location as [Tersus Studio root].

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 8

Go to the Java SE - Downloads page.

Scroll down to the Java SE 8unnn section (nnn=221 as of 2019/09/22).

Click the Download button in the Server JRE cell.

In the Java SE Runtime Environment 8 Downloads page, accept the license agreement and click on the appropriate version for your platform.

The archive you downloaded contains a jre sub folder. Extract the contents of this subfolder to [Tersus Studio root]/jre.
We shall refer to this subfolder as [JRE root].

Eclipse GEF Runtime

Open [Tersus Studio root] and launch the Eeclipse binary (eclipse.exe in Windows).

When prompted to Select a workspace

Enter ./workspace
Check Use this as default and do not ask again checkbox
Press OK

When eclipse has finished loading, select Help > Install New Software ...

When the Install wizard opens, do the following:

In the Available Software step, do the following:

Open the Work with drop down, and select
Kepler - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/kepler
A list of software packages (with checkboxes below) should appear below (this might take some time)
Enter GEF in the input field right above the list, which should filter the list to software containing GEF in their name
Check Graphical Editing Framework GEF SDK
Press Next >

In the Install Details step click Next >
In the Review Licenses step, accept the license agreement, and press Finish
Once installation is complete, you might be prompted to restart. Do so.

Updating the JRE and Eclipse configurationsInstall JavaMailVersions tested: 1.6

Go to the JavaMail API page

Click the Download JavaMail Release link

Click the javax.mail.jar link to download the jar file

Copy javax.mail.jar to [JRE root]/lib/ext.

Install Java Advanced Imaging (JAI) APIVersions tested: 1.1.2_01

Go to the Java Media APIs page

Click on the Java Advanced Imaging link

Click on the Java Advanced Imaging API 1.1.2_01 link

Locate the CLASSPATH Install matching your platform (for Mac OSX, use the the Linux version), and click the download link next to it

Accept the license agreement

Press the Download button

Execute or extract the download and copy the contents of the lib/ subdirectory (JARs and DLLs/SOs) to [JRE root]/lib/ext.

Changing Eclipse configuration settings

Add the following line to the end of the file [Tersus Studio root]/configuration/config.ini using a text editor:
osgi.parentClassloader = ext

Start Eclipse.

Select Window > Preferences... to open the Preferences dialog.

In the General > Workspace category, clear the Build automatically check box, and check all the Refresh... check boxes.

In the Install/Update > Automatic Updates category, check the Automatically find new updates and notify me check box.

Click the Preferences dialog OK button to save your changes.

Installing Tersus Studio in EclipseOnline Installation Procedure

Start Eclipse

Select Help > Install New Software... to open the Install wizard

In the Available Software step of the wizard, enter http://updates.tersus.com/2.3/latest in the Work with: field and press [Enter]

Eclipse will now contact the update site on our servers (this might take a few seconds) and should then display an expandable tree with a Tersus item as root.
Check the check box next to it

Press the Next > button to start the download and installation procedure.

When the Install Details step of the wizard appears (which may take some time depending on your eclipse configuration, and network connection), press Next >.

In the Review Licenses step, click the I accept the terms of the license agreement and press Finish.

When a Security Warning appears, referencing the various tersus components, allow the installation to continue, by clicking OK.

When the installation is complete, restart the workbench (Eclipse Platform) as prompted.

When restart is complete, close the Welcome tab, open Window > Open Perspective > Other ... and select the Tersus Modeling perspective, to verify that the installation has been successful.

Offline Installation ProcedureThe procedure is as follows:

Download the update site as a zip archive from http://downloads.tersus.com/tersus-studio-2.3.x-opensource-cp.zip
(copy the url to your browser, replacing x with the actual minor version you wish to install)

Start Eclipse

Select Help > Install New Software... to open the Install wizard

In the Available Software step of the wizard, press the Add... button

In the Add Repository dialog press the Archive... button and select the zip archive downloaded in step 1

Eclipse will now open the archived update site and display an expandable tree with a Tersus item as root. Check the check box next to it

Press the Next > button

Continue with step 6 of the Online procedure above

Alternative Installation Procedure

Download the update site as in step 1 of the offline procedure
Open the [Tersus Studio root] folder (the folder in which you installed eclipse)
Extract the contents of the features & plugins folder in the zip file to the matching sub-folders of [Tersus Studio root]
Start Eclipse
